The Bucks Best Kept Village competition gets underway shortly and the judges will be making their visits around our local area from 1st June until mid-July

Once again we’ll be competing for the ‘Morris Cup’ for villages with a population between 501 and 1500.

As many will have noticed, much work has been going in recent weeks to tidy up our village in readiness. Kevin Dennington and colleagues have also been hard at work on the verges and other common areas. A well-maintained village environment has become a much bigger priority in the work of our Parish Council, as we’ve gradually been taking over more direct responsibilities here from Bucks Council.

Wouldn’t it be marvellous if Chearsley could achieve a ‘Winner’ position this year – we’ve had a couple of near misses in recent years – we achieved a Best Runner-Up position (Dashwood Trophy) in 2022 and last year we were awarded a Certificate of Merit.

Let’s all try and do our bit in the weeks ahead by helping maintain the areas in the immediate vicinity of our homes and keeping them litter-free.
